About Chemical Free Soap
An honest guide to real, handmade soap, written by the family behind Lucky Lady Ranch.

Chemical Free Soap is a small guide to real soap: how it is made, what goes into it, and how to choose a bar that suits your skin. It is written by the family behind Lucky Lady Ranch, a small family ranch where we handcraft natural body care in small batches, from cold process soap to balms, oils and mineral sun protection.
We started this site because we kept hearing the same questions. Is there lye in my soap? Why does this bar say beauty bar instead of soap? What is sodium olivate? Why does handmade soap feel so different? The answers are not complicated, but they are scattered and often buried under marketing. We wanted one calm, plainspoken place to find them.
What chemical free honestly means here
Let us be straightforward. Everything is made of chemicals, including water, olive oil and soap itself. Any bar of soap is the result of a chemical reaction between oils and lye. So when we say chemical free soap, we do not mean soap without chemistry. We mean real soap made from saponified plant oils, without the synthetic detergents, synthetic fragrance, artificial dyes and unneeded preservatives that many mass market bars contain.
We also try to be fair. Many common additives are permitted by regulators at the levels used, and natural ingredients such as essential oils can bother some people too. Our aim is not to scare anyone. It is to explain what each ingredient does, so you can read a label and make your own choice.
How we write
- We explain the chemistry honestly and avoid hype.
- We hedge where the science is uncertain and say so plainly.
- We use cosmetic language only. Soap cleans; it does not cure or treat skin conditions.
- Nothing here is medical advice. For skin conditions, please talk with a doctor or dermatologist.
Where our soap comes from
Our own bars are cold process soap made from olive, coconut, shea, castor and avocado oils, scented with essential oils and cured for weeks. We sell them only through our main site, and this guide links there when a product fits the topic. Thank you for reading, and for caring about what touches your skin every day.
